Indonesia Residency & Business Visa Mobility

At Muzy & Meraris LLP, we advise clients on aligning their activities precisely with these updated permit categories to avoid the heightened risks of deportation, fines, and long-term entry bans currently being enforced.

1. High-Net-Worth & Investment Pathways

Indonesia’s "Golden Age" immigration strategy focuses on attracting long-term capital and financial stability. These permits are non-employment based and do not require a local sponsor.

· Golden Visa (Investment-Based Residency):

o Duration: Renewable 5 or 10-year permits.

o Individual Investment Tiers (E28C):

§ 5-Year Permit: Minimum USD 350,000 in government bonds, public shares (IDX), or mutual funds.

§ 10-Year Permit: Minimum USD 700,000 in government bonds/IDX shares, OR purchase of a residential apartment worth at least USD 1,000,000.

o Key Features: No physical presence requirement; spouse and dependent children (under 18) are included; grants the right to conduct business.

· Second Home Visa:

o Target: Wealthy retirees or individuals seeking a permanent lifestyle base.

o Proof of Funds: Must maintain a minimum balance of IDR 2,000,000,000 (approx. USD 130,000) in an Indonesian state-owned bank, OR show ownership of luxury property in Indonesia valued at USD 1,000,000+.

o Terms: Initial 5-year permit, renewable for an additional 5 years.

2. Professional & Remote Work Permits (2026 Updates)

Indonesian authorities have explicitly cracked down on "digital nomad" activity performed under standard tourist visas. Specific permits now exist for professional activities:

· Remote Worker/Digital Nomad Permit (E33G):

o Eligibility: For foreign nationals working remotely for employers or clients based outside of Indonesia.

o Requirement: Proof of a minimum annual income of USD 60,000.

o Compliance: Holders are strictly prohibited from earning income from Indonesian sources.

· Social Media Content Creator Visa (C5A):

o Eligibility: Designed for influencers and bloggers.

o Terms: Valid for 60 days with two in-country extensions (total 180 days).

o Enforcement: The government has made it explicit that brand deals, sponsored stays, or monetized platforms are considered "work," necessitating this specific permit.
